Why Should a Sign Company be a Member of MSSA?

Government Relations

There are many legal and constitutional issues involved with the regulation of on-premise signs.  In order to review the latest in legal developments when it comes to commercial speech, property rights and signs, contact MSSA and ISA for insight into the legal issues.

Insurance Program

Mikos/Kampakis and MSSA spent a great deal of time crafting an insurance program that first and foremost benefits the members of the association.  This program is designed to offer MSSA members a special pricing credit that has been developed just for them as well a comprehensive coverage plan that provides the best coverage available.

International Sign Association (ISA) Membership

As a sign company member, your ISA dues for the year are completely free, and you will enjoy all the benefits that come with your local AND national membership for one price.  For a complete listing of ISA membership benefits, visit www.signs.org. Mid-South Sign Association, YOUR sign association working for you!

Meetings / Education

MSSA organizes two conferences per year with main goals of touring an existing sign company while participating in educational seminars.  MSSA realizes the necessity of having opportunities in which to tour peer establishments.  How else will you become aware that a change is needed within your business?

Every July, MSSA coordinates its 3rd meeting, the Annual Meeting and Trade Show. This is an excellent opportunity to visit with exhibitors, in addition to meeting with old friends and making new friends within the industry. In addition to offering table top exhibits, other activities are available such as educational seminars, a golf tournament, entertaining networking events plus our grand finale "blow out" party.

Members Supporting Members

At MSSA, we understand and appreciate the investment of time and money from all of our member companies.  As a matter of principle, MSSA member companies do everything they can to conduct business within the membership of the association because MSSA understands it cannot succeed without the success of its member companies.

Networking

MSSA offers many opportunities for meeting and learning from other members. There are members who range from the sign company owners, to the people who work in the back of the shop. Members also have one on one time with product manufacturers and suppliers.  By joining MSSA, you will immediately add several hundred other members to your knowledge accessing database.

Scholarship Program

MSSA feels strongly that helping our youth achieve higher education will benefit the sign industry.  Only MSSA’s member companies, their employees and their employees’ dependents qualify for scholarships which are presented annually to winners. For a program that started humbly in 1997, it has grown to quite a remarkable size today – as of July 2016 - with 816 scholarships (a total of $1,140,500) presented.

Weekly Safety Reports

MSSA understands that your time is precious.  We help simplify your company’s safety compliance by providing weekly safety meeting reports so your employees may be aware of safety issues faced in the sign industry. Weekly Safety Meetings are quick and easy one-page trainings covering different topics each week.

“Over the past 2 years, I've thoroughly enjoyed both the educational and networking opportunities through MSSA. Personally, I think the in-shop visits and tours of existing sign companies have been invaluable for real world learning. The summer convention and trade show has proved to be an ideal event to engage with other vendors and sign company attendees.”

“Why join MSSA? Networking is the primary reason Crystal Clear Imaging, LLC joined MSSA.As owner of a large format digital print shop we are periodically asked to produce signs out of our area of expertise.  With our membership, we have access to an entire region of sign specialists.  We now have resources for all types of signs including electric, neon, digital, pan faces, etc.  In return, when these companies need large format printing, we have the opportunity to provide our services.”

Trey Weaver, Crystal Clear Imaging

“The benefits of MSSA membership are numerous. Networking opportunities, personal contact with industry vendors and exposure to products to enhance ones business are just a few. Add in the educational, governmental assistance and social experiences. I believe in MSSA so much that I’ve not missed a meeting in 25 years, even after selling my business 10 years ago. MSSA opened many doors for me; need I say more?”

Elvis Davis, 1993-1995 MSSA President
